More Annual Session Boston moments: from Yasmin and Anu

Here we go again! Our Penn delegates cannot say enough good things about their Annual Session experience! Sounds like they caught that #ASDAFEVER. ~Yesle

I honestly can’t pick out any particular moment at annual session that was my favorite. My most memorable moment was the reference committee hearings. It was absolutely fascinating to see how official ASDA policies come about. I truly enjoyed hearing about the different resolutions presented at the hearing, along with opposing and supportive views by the attendees. I also enjoyed the ASDA activities and fundraising chapter development workshop. Not only did I get the opportunity to meet other amazing, successful dental student leaders at other chapters, but the session also provided me with many new ideas that I hope we can implement at Penn. Nevertheless, I have to say that hearing Kristin D’Adamo’s name at the Gold Crown awards and Rebecca Merrell’s name at the district trustee elections were both one of my ultimate favorite moments of Annual Session. Both moments were wonderful and well-deserved surprises for our Penn Chapter! ~Yasmin Parsaei D’18, Lunch and Learn Rep

ASDA annual session 2015 at Boston has been one of the most inspiring professional events that I have attended. I was fortunate to experience ‘ASDA fever’- a palpable excitement resulting from the bustling enthusiasm of dental students from every state across the country, eager to contribute towards making the dental school experience better for every dental student. The keynote speaker, Neil Parischa’s talk on focussing on the positive and the awesome things in life was very encouraging, especially under tremendous pressures of dental school. It was a great opportunity to get involved in the process of passing bills regarding important issues such as student debt and mid level providers. The breakout session from eminent speakers expanded my understanding of a variety of significant topics such as leadership as a dentist, building a practice from ground up, effect of social media on dentistry and applying to residencies. Overall, I am grateful to this amazing organization for being a great platform for dental students to network, engage and learn. I hope every dental student realizes the importance of ASDA membership and fully utilizes and contributes towards this organization.  ~Anukriti Gupta D’18, PASS Rep
